Oooh veggies, I really am a veggie kind of girl at the moment. Ours are finally growing away well now that we fenced off each individual bed from the deer that had been munching on them.
Any day now I should have the start of some courgettes and then I will be in heaven. Obviously it's so late in the season but it's been a terrible year for veggie growers in most parts of the country so I mustn't grumble.
My weight is steady at around 12st 4lb at the moment and I am having the two fast days a week for health reasons. It makes me feel alert and well, something that's been missing for a while. Hunger is a good thing sometimes, not that I get that hungry, but I see how it must help with cell renewel, you do get a definite clarity of thought and lightness of step that is missing when you feel stodgy.
I try to make sure that I do have the 500 calories on each fast day and I split it over two meals, the first of which is always some Oatbran Porridge with Flaxseeds. I do think you need something in your tummy at the start of the day, after all you need some energy. I intersperse the meals with lots of water and a couple of cups of coffee, so I am never ravenous.
It's amazing that if you let yourself get to what you think of as hungry and then have a glass of water it turns out you are in fact simply thirsty and your body feels so much better for just getting the water that it was really asking for. If the hunger then comes back after a few minutes then you know that you really do need some food and that's the time to have something to eat.
Anyway I am really enjoying the way I am eating at the moment and I feel good, so my body is enjoying it as well as my mind. A very good situation.
